The Royal Picardie Hotel, which looks like a fortified castle planted in the heart of the Somme and near famous World War I battlefields, invites you to enjoy a warm and friendly stay. Close to main roads, Albert is approximately 92 miles from Calais and a short drive from Arras and Amiens.

CAMBRAI

Hotel Beatus is a great 3 star Hotel on the Avenue De Paris, Cambrai. This is about a 20 min walk from the center of Cambrai and very easy to find due to the enthusiastic sinage around Cambrai. The owner is very interested in WW1 and some years back unearthed and restored a tank, called Deborah. A model is in the reception of the Hotel, but to see the tank in full may take some persuading.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow, between the crosses, row on row, that mark our place; and in the sky the larks, still singing, fly - scarce heard amid the guns below. we are the dead. Short days ago we lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie - in Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe; To you from failing hands we throw the torch, be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die, we shall not sleep, though poppies grow..... In Flanders fields....
